- God –
We believe in one God, Creator of all things, holy, infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in a loving unity of three equally divine Persons: The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Having limitless knowledge and sovereign power, God has graciously purposed from eternity past to redeem a people for Himself and to make all things new for His own glory. (Psalm 33:6; Psalm 135:6; Proverbs 19:21; Romans 8:29-30; Ephesians 1:11-14)
- The Bible –
We believe that God has spoken in the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, through the words of human authors. The words of Scripture are the Word of God. The Bible is without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of God’s will and wisdom. It is the ultimate authority by which every realm of human knowledge and endeavor should be judged. It is to be believed in all that it teaches, obeyed in all that it requires, and trusted in all that it promises. It is therefore the complete and final authority in all matters of personal faith and conduct. (1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:16,17; 2 Peter 1:20,21)
- The Human Condition –
We believe that God created Adam and Eve in His image, but they sinned when tempted by Satan. All men and women are created in God’s image and therefore have great value and dignity. Yet because of the Fall all human beings are also sinners by nature and by choice, and are therefore alienated from God and under His wrath. Only through God’s deliberate, saving work in Jesus Christ can people be rescued, reconciled to God, and renewed. (Genesis 3:17-19; John 6:44; Romans 6:23; 1 Corinthians 2:14 & 15:22; 2 Thessalonians 2:13; Romans 8:29-30)
- Jesus Christ –
We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, fully God and fully man, one Person in two natures. He is the Old Testament’s promised Messiah. He was conceived through the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, was crucified under Pontius Pilate, and arose bodily from the dead. He ascended into heaven and now sits at the right hand of God the Father as our High Priest and Advocate. (Isaiah 9:6; Matthew 1:18-25; John 1:1, 14; Matthew 16:21; Mark 14:61,62; Colossians 2:9; Titus 2:13-14)
- The Work of Jesus Christ –
We believe that Jesus Christ is our representative and substitute, having died on the cross as the perfect, all-sufficient sacrifice for our sins. His sinless life, atoning death, and victorious resurrection constitute the only ground for salvation. Jesus is the only way for a person to have a relationship with God now and eternal life with God in heaven. (Matthew 16:16; Luke 1:34-35; John 1:1,14 & 3:16 & 5:22-30 & 10:30 & 14:6; Acts 4:12; 1 Corinthians 15:3-8; Hebrews 4:15-16; 1 Peter 2:22-25)
- The Holy Spirit –
We believe that the Holy Spirit, as the third Person in the Trinity, glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ in all He does. He convicts people of their sin and guilt before a righteous God. He regenerates sinners, and in Him they are baptized into union with Christ and adopted as heirs into the family of God. He also indwells, illuminates, guides, equips, and empowers believers for Christ-like living and service. The indwelling of the Holy Spirit in believers is their guarantee of eternal life. (John 16:8-14; Acts 2:38; Romans 8:9; Galatians 5:16-25; Ephesians 1:13-14 & 4:30, Titus 3:5; 1 John 3:24)
- Salvation –
We believe that salvation is founded in the Person and work of Christ alone, by the grace of God alone, and through personal faith in Christ alone. It is motivated by God’s love for humanity and His desire to reconcile people to Himself, which results in His glory and praise. It is a gift which cannot be earned. God invites everyone everywhere to believe the Gospel, to turn to Him in repentance from sin, and to place their faith in Christ. (John 1:12-13 & 3:16 & 6:63; Acts 2:38-39; Ephesians 1:4-5 & 2:8-9; 1 John 1:9)
- The Church –
We believe that the true and universal Church comprises all who have been justified by God’s grace through faith alone in Christ alone. They are spiritually united by the Holy Spirit in the body of Christ, of which Christ is the Head. The Church is manifest on earth in local congregations of true believers. (Luke 22:19-20; Acts 2:38; I Corinthians 11:23-26 &12:12)
- Christian Living –
We believe that God’s justifying grace must not be separated from His transforming power in believers’ lives. God commands us to love Him supremely and other believers sacrificially, and to live out our faith with integrity, compassion, and care for all people. In obedience to Christ’s Great Commission, we are to make disciples among all people, bearing witness to the Gospel in word and deed. (Deuteronomy 6:5; Ephesians 4:32; Colossians 3:12-13; 1 Peter 3:15; Matthew 22:39 & 28:19;-21 Mark 16:15; James 4:7)
- Christ’s Return and Eternal Destiny –
We believe in the bodily and glorious return to earth of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Second Coming of Christ will be at a time known only to God and demands our continual expectancy. Jesus’ return is the abiding and sustaining hope of all believers. We believe that God will raise all people bodily and judge each person individually. He will condemn unbelievers to eternal conscious punishment and will welcome believers into eternal blessedness and joy in His presence in the new heaven and the new earth, all to the praise of His glorious grace. (Matthew 25:31-46; Mark 13:32-33; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Titus 2:13)
