WEBCAST –
We had rules in the family I (Jim) grew up in. Some rules stated things we children had to do. Others stated what we should not do. All were reasonable and easy for us to understand. I am glad that we had these rules.
As I approached adulthood I didn’t need my parents to point out my sins. They were clear to me, and I realized the rules or laws I was breaking at that time in my life were God’s. Having the clear inner conviction and guilt that I had sinned, over and over, is what moved me to both fear God and draw near to HIs Son. The only way for my sins to be forgiven was to place my trust in God Who said that He loved me and in His Son Who came to earth and suffered to pay my sins’ penalty.
Without the early rules in my family, I would not have later developed the awareness of my sin. Without the awareness of our sin, none of us would have embraced Christ as our Savior.
